During her time at SDSU, Marissa Heckman gained the skills needed to excel and provide her future client’s needs with professionalism, organization and impeccably appropriate and effective communication.

For Marissa, becoming an invaluable asset to a company goes beyond working hard and getting the job done.

“Through the School of Communication, I have learned how essential teamwork and group morale is. I understand the importance of a positive attitude and how far good character can take you,” Heckman said.

In the summer 2016, Heckman studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain and gained a new sense of autonomy and a deep respect for diversity.

While abroad, Heckman was able to apply skills she learned in an intercultural communications course taken at SDSU. Through this experience she learned the importance of independence, patience, understanding, respect and responsibility.

“Staying busy and keeping my priorities in line have shaped me to be an extremely driven, confident and responsible young woman,” Heckman said. “I am very proud of who I have become because of SDSU.”

Heckman has had three internships during her college career. Her current internship, with Power Digital Marketing, will become a full-time position after commencement.
