ON TO A NEW STAGE

SDSU Performing Arts District

To feel invincible, to be a part of something, to smile and create smiles, to sing at the top of your lungs, to ache in beautiful ways, to forget, to live

In 2019, San Diego State University was awarded $37 million by the California State University (CSU) system to rebuild its aging theatre and build a new, more intimate Second Stage venue for the performing arts. These buildings will be at the center of the expanded and re-imagined Performing Arts District. HGA has been selected as the architect, with construction to begin in winter 2021.

On to a New Stage is a fundraising campaign to match CSU’s $37 million allocation in order to ensure that the theatres and their surroundings are state-of-the-art and can support the current and future needs of the university and the community.

The campaign is a unique opportunity to leverage the state’s contribution with philanthropic support to showcase SDSU performing arts for decades to come.

Take a Seat, We Saved You a Seat in the Spotlight!

SDSU performing arts invites you to take part in an exciting opportunity to support its new Performing Arts District in a meaningful way by participating in the Take A Seat campaign. Your sponsorship will support performances, students, faculty, and the greatest needs of the SDSU performing arts program. You have the opportunity to Take A Seat in the spotlight and enjoy having your name, a sentiment, anniversary date, or the name of another person you wish to honor laser-engraved on an elegant nameplate placed on one of the theater seats. The engraving you select promises that you or your loved one will be a visible part of this dynamic Performing Arts District for years to come.
