Community Engagement
As a strategic goal, the college seeks opportunities to connect such faculty work with the community in a way that fosters impactful and meaningful experiences and relationships. This engagement informs the classroom experience of our students and prepares graduates to engage in the community by applying their creative efforts, research involvement, leadership and scholarship to real world scenarios.
Examples of our commitment and success
Internships
PSFA places a high priority on enabling students to have access to academically related internship opportunities. Every school in the College has a dedicated internship coordinator who works with students and community organizations to ensure that quality internship experiences are available. Music Education Fellows
With the generous support of donors, select upper division music education students are selected each year to work side-by-side with mentor teachers in the San Diego Unified School District. In addition to practical application of theories and concepts learned at SDSU, these students gain significant experiences and leadership skills throughout the academic year while working 8-10 hours each week in the field. The job placement rate is 100%.
