Zackorea John King
School of Music and Dance Outstanding Graduate, 2018

Zackorea “Zack” King is graduating as the Outstanding Graduate from the SDSU Division of Dance. Known by his peers for his leadership and work ethic, King credits his success to the support from his family and the Division of Dance.

In 2017, King was selected as recipient of the George A. Willis Dance Scholarship. He used this opportunity to follow his passion for combining multiple artistic mediums, directing a short film that featured dance. His film was selected to be a part of the SDSU 48-hour film festival.

Shortly after arriving at SDSU, he overcame severe injuries and successfully joined the SDSU University Dance Company.

“I want to be known for the innovating, moving, and impactful work I do as a performer,” King said. “The faculty has such high expectations for performers that it is a privilege to work at this pre-professional level. SDSU has prepared me not just to be a participant in the professional world, but to be an artistic collaborator.”

Following graduation, he plans to continue working to elevate visibility for dance through film in order to inspire critical dialogue about the arts.
