School of Public Affairs Welcomes Dr. Jeffery Osborne

Dr. Jeffery R. Osborne has a joint appointment as an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice with the Division of Professional Studies at SDSU - Imperial Valley and the School of Public Affairs at the main campus. He received a PhD in Criminal Justice from the City University of New York Graduate Center and an MA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Dr. Osborne is a criminologist, primarily studying active shooter incidents. His current focus is on the relationship between offenders’ background characteristics and crime scene behaviors. Dr. Osborne’s general research interests include violent crime, risk assessment, crime analysis, empirical offender profiling, environmental criminology, investigative psychology, and data generation. He has previously taught in New York City and the Hudson Valley, as well as presented at conferences domestically and abroad. In addition to publishing in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Osborne has conducted research with federal law enforcement agencies and law firms. He grew up in the Imperial Valley and has returned to the region with his wife, a native of New York’s Adirondack Mountains.
