SDSU School of Art + Design mourns the loss of a giant. John Baldessari was a tremendously influential artist and teacher. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Art from San Diego State, and later, landed a position as an assistant professor of art at SDSU. In 2003, The Board of Trustees of The California State University and San Diego State University conferred upon John the honorary degree of Doctor of Fine Arts. John will be remembered near and far for an incredible legacy in contemporary art as well as the wry wit that infused his art and life, and his excellence and generosity in teaching.
