As SDSU enters its third semester dictated by the pandemic, students’ struggle to stay motivated to learn is thematic. The College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts asked students from its schools for motivational ideas to launch a successful semester. Check out their insights throughout the month. Featured below is Kayla Taliaferro (School of Hospitality and Tourism Management senior).

Q1: What gets you through the day?

“Being thankful for all that I have helps me get me through the day. It’s easy to think of the bad things that have happened, but it is important to think of all the good things to be grateful for in life! I am blessed to be healthy and safe during a pandemic and that is most important.”

Q2: If you had a motivational toolkit, what would be your favorite tool?

“My favorite tool would be a planner, it keeps me organized and motivated, and helps me get things done.”

Q3: What are you grateful for?

“I am grateful for my supportive friends and family and am extremely grateful that I got to attend my dream school for the past four years.”

Q4: What piece of advice is your go-to?

“Try your hardest and be genuine! Everything else will start to fall into place.”

Q5: How do you stay mentally healthy?

“I make sure to give myself planned times to relax and do fun activities. It is important to take care of yourself and rest to keep yourself productive.”

Q6: How do you stay resilient?

“I stay resilient by thinking about all of the goals that I want to accomplish. This inspires me to keep going, I can accomplish anything that I put my mind to.”
