Johnathan Hallmark, a finance major, has been named outstanding graduate by SDSU’s Army ROTC Military Science Program. In addition to his involvement in the Army ROTC, Hallmark was involved in campus intramural sports and the SDSU Ski Club/Snow Team.

Hallmark served as co-captain of the 2022 Army ROTC Ranger Challenge Team which placed 4th among 274 ROTC programs from across the nation at the Sandhurst Military Skills Competition at West Point. This is especially impressive as this was the first time SDSU Army ROTC had competed at Sandhurst. They placed 26th overall amongst 48 highly competitive teams from each of the service academies, international teams, and senior military colleges.

Hallmark credits the Army ROTC Program for allowing him to reach his goals.  “Coming in my freshman year of college, my ultimate goal was to graduate San Diego State with my bachelor's degree and commission into the US Army as an Infantry Officer,” shares Hallmark. “Thankfully due to my experiences, training opportunities, and the mentorship from the cadre in the Army ROTC program, this goal will be attained once I graduate from IBOLC this upcoming Fall.”

Hallmark shares his advice for incoming students, “get involved with clubs and organizations on campus. Make physical fitness a priority in your life. Develop relationships with the people around you,” shares Hallmark.
