Throughout her four years at San Diego State University, communication graduate Danielle Gonzales has worked to make her college experience an unforgettable one.

“I truly have immersed myself in SDSU and the San Diego community, taking risks and putting myself out there whatever way I can. Every decision and mistake I made has allowed me to grow into a confident, intelligent, motivated, and driven young woman,” Gonzales says.

Following graduation, Gonzales will be taking her first step toward her future Sales career by accepting a job at Gallo Wines as their Wine & Spirits Sales Representative. Gonzales thanks all her inspiring professors whose enthusiasm and passion for communication has motivated her greatly.

“I look forward to applying all that I have learned from the SDSU Communication program and increasing the representation of Hispanic women in Sales Management roles at Gallo Wines in the future,” Gonzales says.

While at SDSU, Gonzales had the opportunity to study abroad in Sevilla, Spain. Though this trip was cut short due to COVID-19, Gonzales is forever grateful for everything she learned from this experience.

“This experience highlighted how important intercultural communication and making an effort to understand other cultures is. Expanding your worldview increases your empathy and knowledge of other cultures, which aids in bridging differences and engaging in effective communication. Even though COVID cut my abroad experience short, I would not trade those two months in Sevilla for anything in the world!”

As an SDSU Ambassador, Kappa Alpha Theta and Rho Lambda member, and the School of Communication’s Advancement Intern, Gonzales is leaving SDSU with lasting connections and memories.

“Thank you so much to the SDSU Communication staff for making my time here at San Diego State University unforgettable! I am so honored to be nominated for Outstanding Graduate and represent the School of Communication. I would not trade these past four years for anything in the world.”
