During his time in the MCP program, Cervantes served as the President of the City Planning Association SDSU and as the SDSU Student Representative to the San Diego Chapter of the American Planning Association. These opportunities enriched his experience at SDSU and helped him connect with faculty, classmates, and professional planners in the region.

Cervantes’ goal is to work as a transit planner in both the public and private sectors. “I hope to work in positions that marry my interests in urban design and public transportation and that offer opportunities to work in different cities and countries. The program has provided me with the skills and theoretical framework to succeed in future planning roles”, said Cervantes.

Before leaving SDSU, Cervantes wished his graduating class success in their future endeavors. “I hope that the program’s many lessons on equity, design, and the environment continue to inform their work”, he said. He also shared some words of advice for the incoming MCP class. “Get involved! As much as possible, get involved. The experience is made much more rewarding by participating in clubs, professional organizations, and research with professors.”
