What is your hometown:

Manhattan Beach, California

Major and year in school:

I am a senior graduating in May! I am a Journalism major with an emphasis in public relations, and also have a minor in religious studies.

How did you decide on SDSU?

Growing up in LA, I always knew I wanted to stay in Southern California. After touring SDSU in high school I knew it was my top choice. Despite having competitive stats, I was rejected, and extremely devastated. I appealed that rejection and found out I was admitted a month before school started. I am so grateful for the way things have turned out and I could not imagine a better college experience.

What’s your favorite part about your field/major?

One of my favorite things about the field is that there are creative elements. I have also been drawn to storytelling and this field helps share diverse stories, which I think is so important. Writing is a powerful tool, and it has the potential to really impact an audience which is something I am drawn to.

What does it take to be successful in your major?

In the PR major, specifically, being successful requires ambition, hard work and strong writing skills. All of the JMS and PR professors have so much skill and knowledge to share, and asking for help and guidance where needed leads to the most successful work.

What do you hope to do in the future?

In the future I hope to work in PR or marketing in the entertainment sector. I love music and my dream job would be practicing PR, marketing, or any related work for a record label.

Any faculty to shout out and why?

I have to shout out Dr. Northup and Dr. Sweetser, who I have worked very closely with this semester in the PR capstone. I have gained a lot of confidence in my academic and leadership capabilities this semester and it's due in large to both of them.

Favorite place to eat on campus, what do you get?

I don’t eat much on campus anymore, but freshman year my roommates and I were obsessed with the rice bowl from UTK.

Favorite place to visit in San Diego?

San Diego has so many places I love! Some of my favorite things to do are go to the beaches in La Jolla and Solana Beach, walk around Balboa Park, and go to all the amazing restaurants in Little Italy.
