Brooke Ann Clarke is the School of Public Affairs 2020 outstanding graduate, majoring in Criminal Justice.

Clarke said that after graduation she plans to attend law school with the hopes of becoming a prosecutor in San Diego. Her experience in the School of Public Affairs internship program allowed her to explore different areas of the field of law and cemented her decision to pursue a law degree. Clarke completed two internships with the San Diego County Office of the Public Defender and the U.S. District Court.

“My best advice to an incoming freshman is to take advantage of every opportunity,” Clarke said. “SDSU is what you make of it. The more clubs you are involved in, the more exciting school will be. Additionally, make sure to get internships while in school. They can get you great experience as well as bulk up your resume.”

Apart from her busy schedule as an intern, Clarke often completed up to 17 units in a semester. “With the help of friends and professors, I was able to find a good balance and perfect my time management,” said Clarke.

Her work ethic and perseverance are the source of Clarke’s parents’ pride, which is echoed by the SPA faculty and staff. Her achievements were further recognized during her time at SDSU when she was awarded the Jack McGrory Scholarship. Now, as she graduates, the School of Public Affairs faculty have once again recognized her accomplishments by selecting her as the Criminal Justice outstanding graduate of the Class of 2020.

“I wish the graduating class all the best. I know we didn’t get the chance to celebrate, but graduating is an amazing accomplishment and something we should all be proud of!” said Clarke.
